INFORMACIONES PSIQUIÁTRICAS 259

Informaciones Psiquiátricas 2025 - nº 259 65 Methods The study involved three groups: 24 schizophrenia patients with continuous or near-continuous auditory verbal hallucinations (AVH-frequent), 22 patients with schizophrenia who had never experienced AVH (AVH-never), and 58 healthy controls (HC). The three groups were matched for sex, age, and intellectual level (before illness onset in the case of the patients). All participants underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanning. For each subject, structural MRI data were processed to establish the gray–white matter boundary. A whole-brain automated method was then applied to define ‘areals’, parcels of cortex where the probability of finding a sulcal pit is high. Statistical analysis was performed to compare the frequency and maximum depth of the sulcal pits between the groups. 258 SULCAL PITS REVEAL A NEURODEVELOPMENTAL CONTRIBUTION OF BROCA’S AND SPEECH-RELATED AREAS TO AUDITORY HALLUCINATIONS IN SCHIZOPHRENIA
