More revealing were the findings within the schizophrenia group itself. Patients with higher delusion scores showed significantly reduced RPErelated activity in several brain regions. These included subcortical structures such as the caudate nucleus, thalamus, and pallidum, as well as areas of the prefrontal cortex, supplementary motor area, and parietal and temporal cortices (Fig. 2a). This inverse relationship that more severe delusional symptoms were associated with lower activation in response to prediction errors. A broadly similar pattern of reduced RPE associated activation was seen for referential thinking (Fig. 2b). The findings remained largely unchanged after controlling for the influence of disorganization and negative symptoms, and after adjusting for antipsychotic medication dosage. 64 Informaciones Psiquiátricas 2025 - nº 258 FIDMAG informa
