INFORMACIONES PSIQUIÁTRICAS 258

Informaciones Psiquiátricas 2025 - nº 258 63 Results Behaviorally, both the patients and the healthy controls were able to learn which stimuli were rewarding. At the neural level, RPE signals activated expected brain regions in healthy controls. These included the caudate nucleus (including its ventral portion), putamen, hippocampus, and various parts of the prefrontal cortex. This pattern was broadly replicated in patients with schizophrenia, with only minor differences between groups. Specifically, only two small clusters in the occipital lobe showed significantly reduced RPE-related activity in patients, and these were not regions typically associated with reward processing. ARE DELUSIONS AND/OR REFERENTIALITY ASSOCIATED WITH ABERRANT REWARD PREDICTION ERROR (RPE) SIGNALING? Figure 2. RPE-associated activations in the schizophrenia patients inversely correlated with PSYRATS delusion scores (a) and IRIS pervasiveness scores (b). Images are displayed in radiological convention (left is right). The color bar depicts z values.
